On the way back from our swimming pool, Drew and Hamish discovered a cicada that had just shed its skin. The skin was brown but the cicada was green. Someone snuck up later and took the cicada skin (exoskeleton) and added it to their collection!
Here are 450 cicada exoskeletons that have been collected by some expert cicada hunters in our class. There is a bit of a competition in our class to see who can collect the most! |
Wow! What a lot of cicada exoskeletons I have seen being collected. Far out, lots of great counting going on there. I think Drew told me the total is now at 1,062. Lots of busy collecting at lunchtime. (Drew's Mum)
ReplyDeleteWow! Lots of great collecting of cicada exoskeletons has been going on. Drew has shown me some very full icecream containers and even managed to trick his sister into thinking he had a container of popcorn (rather than cicada shells)! It was rather funny... lucky she didn't dip her hand in and eat some.

Hi! Room 9,
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome photo of a cicada. I have been trying to find a cicada to show Room 5 so your photo is perfect. 450 cicada shells is a lot!

The cicada shell collection is in the thousands now, and there are still plenty of cicada shells for us to add to the collection. The exoskeletons are in four ice-cream containers now. It's a cicada CRAZE!
