Operetta Poems

Operetta S-A-V-E

Blue-headed Choir

Store-keeper, dog, dog-washer, car-washer.
Our chore people who show how we can make money to save.

We are dressed and ready to roll out.

Some of the choir and loom band dancers waiting peacefully for our item in the operetta.

Hippy car driver, delivery boy, choir member and loom band dancer.

Busy girls, in two items.

Our piggy bank and piggy walker.

Hamilton East News paper girl and lawn mower girl.

Lining up with our props.  We like it when it isn't raining on us!

There goes the hippy in his 60's car!

Behind the stage - we have to sneak in and wait without making a sound!  It is very cramped in here.

The leads. They are getting very good at quick costume changes!

The loom band dancers are rocking the stage!

Room 9's new sandpit

Room 9 has a brand new sandpit!
When Miss Langdon was out shopping she found a box of magical sand. It is called kinetic sand and it sticks together because it has been mixed with a polymer. This sand is water resistant, it never dries out and it doesn't stick to your hands!
The grand opening of our new sandpit attracted lots of visitors from other classes, there were more than 20 people crowded around the table!

GOLD MEDAL WINNER!

Alison Shanks came in to talk to us about following our dreams.  She shared how she had achieved her dream of being the best in the world at something.  Alison thought she REALLY wanted to be a Silver Fern player, but she never got to play much on the courts when she was in A grade.  When the coach told her she had to go down to the B grade, she changed her goal and began riding her bike. Alison has since won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in individual pursuit.

When she was racing in France, the bystanders were calling Ali, Ali, Ali! so she thought they were cheering for her.  But it really means Go! Go! Go!

Alison's bike is made of carbon fibre so it is really lightweight. There are no brakes!!! So she has to keep going around the track until she slows down enough to stop.
She can go 60km an hour, so it must hurt a lot if she falls off.  Alison's shoes are clipped on to the pedals.

Here is one of our students wearing Alison's racing suit and gold medal!
