Helping out

Our class is involved in lots of sports around the school.
One of the jobs is retrieving lost sports equipment...we enjoy this job A LOT as we get to go 'out of bounds'.

My little garden learning

We had to put the soil in a container and then we had to put the water on top. Wait for a while and the soil will suck the water up. Then we scrunched up the soil and put it in the little pot with the seed. We got to watch them grow.

Bees and pollination

We have just planted our little garden flowers. These are helping us to learn about how important bees are and the pollination process.
Did you know that bees love maths, particularly hexagons?
Ask us about it :)

Kakariki House Visit

Today we went on the school bus to Kakariki House. One of the reasons it is known as Kakariki house is because it is an environmentally friendly building. Here is some of the fantastic pieces of art they have on display in their building.

What a great experience!

Mindfulness take two

Every Wednesday morning from 9am-9.45am Whaea Kat teaches us mindfulness. This was our second session and we are doing really well at it.
We learn about mindful breathing, mindful moving, mindful eating and many other practises. Last week we talked about gratitude and this week we learnt about happiness.
Ask us about how it makes us feel and remind us to pause, breathe, smile!

Joe Harawira

We went by bus to the Hamilton City pop up library to listen to Joe Harawira tell us stories in Te Reo. He was a fantastic story teller and even explained his Ta Moko to us which was very interesting.
CHECK OUT OUR BLOGS to see what we learnt from Joe.

Remembering how to be cybersmart...

We are remembering how to use technology for our learning the best we can.
Here are some things you should/shouldn't do:

  • Only use links from the blog (or ones our teachers have shared with us).
  • No youtube (unless it is a link from a teacher).
  • Keep your passwords and personal details to yourself.
  • Appropriate language at all time.
  • Only use your email for learning purposes at school and at home.
  • Make sure you are doing the right learning.
  • No social media.
  • Only the school logo and school photos can be your pictures.
  • Don't talk to people you don't know.
  • G-Suite is for learning only.

So much fun to be had at break times!!!

Something exciting is coming soon...

Oral Language

Being able to talk with others is an important skill to have...so is being able to LISTEN. During oral language time we practice doing both of these in a variety of ways. Here we had to come up with rules as a group on how we were going to take turns, how long we would talk for and how to show good listening skills.
