Waiwhakareke Tree Planting

Waiwhakareke Tree Planting on PhotoPeach
Room 9 went tree planting on Arbor day.  There were children and adults from lots of different Waikato schools and together we planted 30,000 trees!  We planted natives such as kowhai, flax, totara, and kauri trees. Children have been planting trees here for 10 years so some of the trees are quite big now.
It was very muddy and slippery but luckily we all had good balance and we didn't fall over!  There was a magnificent view of Hamilton city from the top of the hill and we saw some deer in a paddock next to the reserve. The trees we planted will attract birds such as tuis and bellbirds.
After all our hard work, we got a sausage to eat at the end (and a carton of juice).
Our bus driver nearly left with the wrong children!!  But fortunately she realised and told them to get off her bus so that we could get on.  She even let us on with our VERY muddy shoes and boots. Hopefully it won't take her too long to clean all that mud off the bus floor!
